This commission was my attempt to bring watercolour to the fore. Quite a gamble really but I do like to fly close to the sun sometimes. I’m pleased I stuck to my guns as the sentiment comes shining through, in the first instance but I could show my skills with faces, hair and hands.

Daddy had passed away and this commission came a year after…i suspect the time was right to help the healing process.

Again there was a direct line between us and I updated at each stage of the painting- to ensure we were on track.

I left the background as a surprise..
